SUP11 SIGHTS – BERLIN | GERMANY
For who?
During the SUP11 Sights adventure we start in the east of Berlin and paddle on the calm river ‘Spree’ towards the city with the current from the back. Reaching the city center of Berlin there is the chance that boats are passing, so you have to be aware for some waves. Paddling towards the south to the city of Potsdam we will cross some bigger lakes where it can be windy. Following the ‘Havel’ around Potsdam we will have some light current. Depending on the weather it can be calm, but you should also have experience to paddle in choppy conditions as the route also follows straightened channels. We will paddle an average distance of 32,6 km a day you should also have the endurance to do that in 5 days.
What are we going to do?
We will start in Fürstenwalde/ Spree in the East of Berlin following the river ‘Spree’ on its way through the meadows and forests.Passing the ‘Müggelsee’ we will reach the city center of Berlin where we will leave the main channel at the ‘Oberbaumbrücke’ into the ‘Landwehrkanal’ following the former inner German Border between East and West Berlin.
Going south towards the city of Potsdam we will cross the ‘Wannsee’ and pass some historical and famous buildings. We will paddle under the ‘Glienicke’ bridge where the divided Germany exchanged their agents. After crossing downtown Potsdam we will paddle again along the former German border around the city in beautiful nature surrounded by lots of water. On the 163 kilometer route there is a lot of German history to discover.
