Long Beach prepares to welcome the SUP Community for the New York SUP Open, with promising surf, and participation for all.
(Press Release) In just two days time, the World’s best will be gathering for the next stop of the APP World Tour, as Stand Up Paddling in all its forms is embraced with participation opportunities for all at the 2019 New York SUP Open.
Opening Weekend (Labor Day Weekend action and fun):
SURFING: Each Day throughout the holding period for the SUP Surfing component of the New York SUP Open, a call will be held at 7am to determine whether action will get underway and at what time. Order of events and categories contested his will be dictated by the conditions on offer each day.
As it stands, Saturday / Sunday is looking a little slower than Monday thru Wednesday (when the forecast is beginning to look promising), but all competitors should be ready to go as early as 8am on Saturday should conditions allow. There will be Open Trials, Junior, Pro and SUP Longboard competition contested at the New York SUP Open.

RACING: The weekend kicks off with Pro-Am, Junior and Amateur Distance Racing out at Long Beach, with 9km course for Pro-Am, 6km Junior and Amateur courses providing entertainment and action right out of the gate. Racing will kick off at 10am, with a briefing at 9:30am for all competitors.
Sunday 1st September will kick off with the Surf For All Community Paddle at 9am (more details below), followed by Short Course / Sprint Racing for Pro-Am and Juniors scheduled to kick off after the Community Paddle.
CLINICS & DEMO SESSIONS: The APP demo Pool is back at the 2019 New York SUP Open, with kids sessions brought to you by Little RIppas Boards, introductory SUP experiences, paddle clinics and SUP Yoga to round out a very complete Labor Day weekend of participation and fun out at Long Beach.

After a day spent participating in an official water clean up initiative out at Long Beach in conjunction Dry Robe and Sea2See (see below), the athletes will then head into the City for the iconic Race Around the Statue of Liberty. SURF FOR ALL CHARITY PADDLE: As mentioned above, there is an official Surf For All Charity Paddle taking place on Sunday 1st September to benefit this non profit and their incredible work to provide Surfing opportunities for all, regardless of the obstacles or challenges.
The Paddle is open to all ages and craft (SUP, Prone, Surf-Ski), with a start scheduled for 9am at the APP World Tour HQ, with a check in between 7:30 and 8:30am in front of Skudin Surf Club.
