AQUATONE WAVE 10’6 TEST REVIEW
Verdict
Colourful, accessible and neatly packaged, the Wave goes right for the all-rounder entry-level market. The comfortable one-piece EVA deck pad and cleverly positioned inflate valve mean no edges to catch bare (maybe sunburned!) skin. The Wave is a really easy board to get on with right from the start. Pump it up and have some good times on the water this summer.
Overview
Aquatone’s Wave is a big, bright all-rounder. It’s a friendly 300 litre board 10’6 with 6” side walls and 32” wide – they don’t intend for you to use it in proper surf. The yellow-blue colours are the most pleasing we’ve seen in a while, it will look great in a sunny cove this summer. The package contains the smart aluminium and Nylon 3-piece Allstyle paddle, clear SUP coil leash with decent padded cuff, 9.0” centre fin, pump, and a generous 105L SUP bag.
On deck, four D rings hold the rear cargo bungee. Two more D rings just forward of the padded carry handle allow kayak seat fitting. The one piece printed EVA deck pad is comfy on bare skin.
Reinforcing stringer-tech encircles this single-layer board. Together with the double-layer rails, this gives much more stiffness than standard single-skin construction, and more durability.
Finally you have Aquatone’s signature inflate-valve placement – forward and to the left.
Brand Claim
The all-time classic all-round inflatable SUP, setting the benchmark with stunning performance and ultimate flexibility. With a length of 10’6″ (320cm), it is the most standard SUP size in our all-round range. Built with the most popular SUP shape, extra wide and generous thickness, the WAVE model is so easy to glide and very forgiving.
Performance
The Wave’s colours really stand out in a beach scene, it’s like a giant tangy sweet. All together this is a slick looking product. As anyone who likes to choose their water attire will agree, aesthetics on the water are important!
So, this is another 10’6 all-rounder, packaged ready to hit the water. What sets the Wave apart is the smooth, comfortable finish. The low-profile EVA deck pad is a peach. The location of the inflate valve means you won’t catch yourself on it climbing up on the tail or stepping back. This makes a difference for kids in bathing suits who like to clamber all over their SUPs.
Aquatone have not held back in delivering plug and play performance. 32” wide, 6” thick and 300 litres are generous dimensions. This board will float anyone who wants to have a go at SUP. The
rounded pin tail is a nice touch and lighter riders will find a bit more response for step back turns.
The Wave is an eye-catching, bright, comfortable board that’s ready to get you on the water this summer.
