Following recent typhoons and a relentless onslaught of plastic washing up onto our Hong Kong coastline, myself Jonny Haines and my colleague’s Tim and Jason (teacher’s from different schools in the community) have decided to team-up and undertake a ‘Challenge for Charity’: to paddle board 75km around Lantau Island, Hong Kong.
We want to do this to raise awareness of the many environmental pressures that our coastlines, marine environments, eco-systems and animal life are facing and to educate people to how their choices can impact our home. We will be raising money for Plastic Free Seas to help them build an online educational platform for all things environmental, plus to continue their efforts with educational programmes and community beach-cleanups, etc.
We launched the campaign recently and our video and website has already reached 22,000 people, has several hundred ‘likes’, shares and has already raised HK$12k.
