It wasn’t long before we were joined by Daffy’s resident horticulturist Gillian Joyce who helped us scour the loch’s shoreline for botanicals to use in our gin making later and perhaps most importantly make sure we didn’t choose anything that could do us any harm! Although there is no better feeling than foraging and collecting your own food and botanicals, there is an art to it and as Gillian constantly reminded us, always make sure you know exactly what it is your picking and putting in your drink! In addition to nettles, we collected yarrow and bog myrtle which was incredibly fragrant, and we were assured this would create a woody piney gin.
