It’s impressive that he knows every rock in the water and paddles out to the left of the reef, keeping his distance and gaining the peak without any difficulties. He arrives and waits outside the peak and a good set wave swings in. Quickly, he starts paddling and commits to a steep take off on a long straight wall, placing a first big carve on the next section before finishing with a strong re-entry above the shallow reef. The French man is on form this morning! Eric’s so focused for most of the year on his world racing schedule, it’s nice to see him having so much fun in waves like a kid, trying big manoeuvres on tough sections, charging big sets without thinking and laughing out loud.
‘I’m stoked; good empty waves, it’s definitely our day this morning’ says Eric as he paddles to the peak, a huge smile on his face. The show continues as he shreds wave after wave as more and more people watch the line up from the shore and start arriving at the peak. After two hours of nonstop wave-riding, he felt it’s time for him to quit the scene. ‘I got my quota, I’m really exhausted, you know what, I’m ready for breakfast at the harbour, I know an awesome place!’
