With the beach in our minds’ rear view mirror, still glowing, we made our way back to San Jose. Stumbling across Todos Santos en-route was an unexpected cultural experience. Home to the original Hotel California – made famous by The Eagles – it’s a part of the Baja peninsula you won’t want to miss. A dusty Mexican seaside secret, it seems to be transitioning into the hermano of the bustling Cabo San Lucas. Nonetheless, strolling through the streets and absorbing its history, artisan vibes and picturesque location added to our Mexican experience. The more we explored the more untouched coastline and waters we discovered. Cabo was brimming with potential and we were hungry to see more. Off we went again, leaving San Jose in the dust as we hightailed down the sand swept desert roads with nothing more than our addiction to ride. No longer had we settled in to the journey when we came to a dead end, pushing us onto a dirt track which would lead us up the Eastern Cape. Winding through the red sand walls we encountered the famous breaks of Punta Gorda, Shipwrecks and Nine Palms. Once again outside of swell season they lay dormant, so we continued on for a bite to eat at Vida Soul and a flat-water cruising session in its sheltered bay.
