Finding Milo
The next day they drove to Seward, where they boarded the 58 ft Milo, a converted fishing boat turned adventure surf cruiser that will pretty “comfortably” sleep up to eight people. From Seward they headed up the vast Alaska coastline, which consists of huge bay after huge bay, many of which snake their way inland to glaciers that last year round. The boys took the Zodiac RIB up a river and into an iceberg filled lake at the base of a glacier. The images from paddling under ice bridges and under giant icebergs can much better explain their experience than I can. It was clearly amazing. The next day further up the coast they found a nice little wave to ride and that evening paddled with killer whales. It seemed that around every corner was a new incredible experience, with the vast expanse of water and land teaming with every sort of life form. Except other humans.
