Just as Kai and I got positioned in front of the left face, the whole thing went. First a really big piece that made a sizable wave along the shore and then with an intensity that got our hearts pumping, the rest of it went. Thousands of tons of ice went crashing into the water with a roar and this time the wave was huge. An icy tube full of giant chunks raced along the shoreline while a massive set of swells came at Kai and I. Although we were standing over about six hundred foot deep water, neither of us were sure if the approaching wave was going to break or not. It didn’t, but the thrill was insane.
