What’s your home spot like, is there much opportunity to have fun?
We live in Vissant, a few meters from the beach, so it’s easy, I just grab my board and get out there. I also go to Wimereux, another beach 20 minutes south, which has a different orientation. That’s where I did a lot of surfing when I was younger; the wave is quite soft and easy to learn on. Wissant is usually cross- off shore so cleaner, and it’s more powerful, a fairly hollow wave at low tide.
You’ve spent a couple months in Maui each year from a very young age, it’s almost like your second home…
Yes, that’s pretty true, especially this last year as I stayed there for most of the winter. I know some local people and see some good friends there like Julien Bru and others whom I share a lot of sessions with. It’s quite easy for me as thanks to Fanatic I have access to SUP gear, and I left a few of my boards for waves and race training there.
