With such a busy calendar you’re not home in France for long, but you seem to enjoy it while you can, right?
Even if we don’t have perfect conditions, home is always special, you know. I like to stay with my family and have fun riding with my old friends there. I’ve spent so much time in water there, this is where it all started. We surf and sail of course but a few of them are now doing some SUP racing and it’s great to go paddle with them, train while having fun, this is what I love. Everyone would say it I guess, but your home spot always stays unique in your heart. This winter I’ve got a rare two months extra at home before leaving to Cape Town in January. I think I will have the time to enjoy the cold water sessions at home.
You are a very laid-back and thoughtful guy in life, you are interested in culture, literature, classical music…Where did you acquire these tastes?
Music has always been very strong in the family. My father is a huge fan of jazz music, and my older brother Maxence loves classical music so I grew up with these influences. When I was 12-13 years old I really started to became a fan myself, listening for several hours a day sometimes. It opens my mind to this amazing world. We also share the passion of literature, I like to read a lot and I have discovered different types of books through them. I deeply love reading and as I spend a lot of time travelling it allows me to read a lot, I live those moments quite differently.
Through these passions you find a healthy balance that compliments everything you do in the ocean, right?
Yes, I love those sports but I sometimes need a break from the whole scene and competition madness, to think and appreciate other sides of life. That’s a good way to keep that kind of balance as you say. It’s almost like staying on a board I guess, you need balance!. SUP
