A break in the clouds
photo: STARBOARD
For years, the tiny heart-shaped South Pacific island of Tavarua held the key, and the disclaimer forms, to getting a ride at the ethereal Cloudbreak and the even rarer gourmet lefts of Restaurants. Now though, it’s access all areas. You just need to get to the airport, fly to LA, fly to Aukland, fly to Nadi, take a two-hour white knuckle taxi ride down to Seashell Cove, bounce across the Pacific for half an hour on a speed boat, then jump off the side and straight out the back of the world’s most perfect surfing park. Or you could just charter your own yacht; we’d say don’t go less than 80ft of waterline for the downhill run on the South East trades from Peru.
