We had great conditions for the HB SUWT Event. I was really stoked with my surfing and made it through to round 4 with a very close heat leaving me in third position and out of the game. One of the highlights of the event was round 3 coming up against Kai Lenny (one of my truly inspirational waterman) and taking out the heat in the final stages moving me onto round four. I definitely look forward to more of those challenges in the future. HB was a blast and served up so many great surf spots; San Clem Pier, Newport Beach, San-O, and on one of the final days we took the short boards out for a session at Lower Trestle. The Battle of the Paddle also coincided with the SUWT event and although racing is not my usual bag I decided to sign up after really enjoying the racing in the recent SUWS event and Ultimate SUP Showdown in Hawaii. I don’t travel with a 12’6 race board so made some pre contact with teammate Belar Diaz who came to the rescue with a spear, what a legend! I would not have made the event without his help, cheers bro.
