I had very little training and surprised myself with a qualification for the final race. It was scary to say the least lining up with 99 other competitors, staring at the 5ft surf and Belar’s 12’6 Falcon under my arm. With an echo of ‘it’s all about the start’ coming from somewhere I decided to tail Jamie Mitchell out to the first buoy which ended up a good choice. Waves, equipment and adrenaline took me to the finish. I was super happy coming in 21st, and it has inspired me to do some further training and ready myself for others. HB offers so many other activities and unique areas to visit besides the beach which we were able to capture with Greg Panas during some of our shoots. We even took time to check out one of the theme parks, Knotts Berry Farm, what a blast, made it out of there without spewin’!
