Up until that day I was counting every time I crashed my bike. But during the days that we crossed all the sand roads and dunes I lost track of how many times I crashed. The only comfort I had was to see that David and Oscar were crashing as well. I was not worried about my Whip paddleboard (best thing about inflatables, very hard to inflict damage on them), but none of us believed that the boards would ever make it to the ocean without a crack since when you drop around 250kg on a surf board the usual result is that you break it.
Two weeks after our departure we finally rolled up at the coast. The forecast for the week wasn’t ideal for paddling as it had been blowing in excess 40 knots for the last two days and it didn’t look like it was stopping anytime soon.
We talked to a few locals and we decided to go to Cap Sim first, a well known surf spot, and the only place where we could find some waves and less wind. The spot was amazing and the little town was full of good vibes but it was still very windy and the tide that week was too high. We had some good fun there but I’m definitely looking forward to seeing it again with better conditions. With no respite in the wind we went to Sidi Kauki, Moulay and Essaouira for some kiteboarding. Moulay is a great spot for surfing when there’s no wind and great for kiting when it is windy. It is definitely not a spot for beginners but if you have the level, it is great fun.
