I do not know if it was the wind that bothered me the most, but what I remember of this trip will be the endless hours in the car, the vastness of the landscape and the infernal heat. Clearly, a road trip cannot be much more than that: it is better not to count the hours spent driving but rather to focus on the landscape and enjoy the solitude of certain sunrises when you have found a perfect spot to camp the night before. As for the heat, what shall I say? Every evening the news on TV talked for hours about the incredible heat wave that was hitting the South West of the USA during those days. Certainly, it was not easy to find spots where we could hit the water with our stand up paddle boards during the hottest – and driest – summer that they’ve seen in decades. This is a story of sup trip across the United States but also a story about climate change, mainstream culture, Instagram and the search for your own path in life.
