NILE SPECIAL
It’s always a treat to see a wave named after a beer instead of the other way around. This standing river wave in Uganda takes its name from the Nile Special pale ale which is apparently loved by tourists and avoided by locals at all cost. One review on ratebeer.com described it thus: ‘taste is iron filings, awful apple and faint skunk. Near flat, watery, unpleasant off-putting oily apple notes’. Anyway Aaron Kendall clearly managed to avoid the stuff as evidenced by his chamoix-like balance here.
