PILOTE
To pilot is to guide or steer something. The word comes from ‘pilote’, an early 16th century French word which denoted a person who steers a ship. ‘Pilote’ itself came from the medieval Latin word ‘pilotuts’, which is an alteration of ‘pedota’, which is based on the Ancient Greek work ‘pedon’. And what does ‘pedon’ mean? You’ve guessed it, it means paddle or oar. Donica Shouse about to go full circle on Maui.
