People say I am a very nostalgic person. With this in mind, I find that I often check each step forward with mindfulness of the past.
The Nalu reminds me of my first paddleboard, a beautifully simple 10’0” longboard that will forever speak “Summer” in my ear. It takes me back to the sweltering, popsicle-melting, heat of the West Side of Maui, where playful waves ebbed and flowed with the tides and children like me waited on little foam-islands to saddle the backs of waves and ride! This is a treasured memory for me and many others.
Despite all that happens as the sport of stand up paddling progresses, a board like this keeps that pure love of surfing alive, invoking a passion for simply riding waves and cruising to and fro along a bit of crystal clear water. Subtle in its nature, it’s a timeless vehicle that can transport one to beautiful places. This a board that does everything and in my family, its a centerpiece. My Dad uses our Nalu as his go-to nose-rider, on a small day he’ll slap a single fin in there and cruise little liplines. In larger surf, he and I will experiment
