Michi Schweiger and I have been longtime friends as well as teammates in the Molokai to Oahu, 32-mile World Championship race in the relay division. In the 3 years that we competed together, we managed to always be in the Top 3 and even win the title one year. In 2013, we decided to take younger riders under our wings, which was really a lot of fun as well. Over all those years, Michi and I never managed to surf together, so it was fun for me to see him tearing it up in style. Our 4th partner in crime was Kody Kerbox, who was truly on fire every session. Seeing somebody at the top performance level of the sport is simply amazing. I was constantly doing “double takes” every time he was on a wave because it looked like he was short boarding the way he was maneuvering his stand up paddle board. The boys were unbelievably stoked with the places we hit and there was hardly enough time to relax in between sessions, which is just how we like it.When looking back at their visit, I took a moment to think back to my first time on a stand up paddleboard.
