ROAD BOOK
Best season: For waves November to March sees northwest Atlantic swells and also solid trade winds for downwinders! But anything can happen out of season and the water’s 28 degrees all year.
Getting there: From Europe, flights are between 700 and 1000 euros. Transfer in Miami. Luggage is 150 euros per board bag on average. However, flights are often cheaper from Spain…
Language: Spanish will open all doors and allow you to integrate into the local life but almost everyone speaks English too.
Accommodation: Relatively easy to find but quite expensive in general. You will find a lot of nice and relatively cheap houses on the internet near Borinquen and a lot of options between Isabella and Rincon. Do not hesitate to approach the locals, that’s where you’ll find the best set ups.
Repair: If you need to repair boards Verde Azul in Aguadilla can help you (www.verdeazulpr.com)
Stand up paddle and surf: Many surf shops on the island to rent very good Surf and SUP equipment.
Downwinders: Seek out the Verde Azul shop in Aguadilla which rents the equipment and drop offs / pick ups (www.verdeazulpr.com)
Foiling: You can learn to foil in excellent conditions at Ricon SUP and Surf Foil. Start behind a boat and progress into small perfect waves. Ask Mike Seakindly at the Rincon Marina
