Going down river via sup is an experience that can be only done in the town of Bosa, since the Temo is the only navigable river in Sardinia.
Paddling out of the river mouth and heading north towards the Cape of Marrargiu, we’ll see the first of a series of secluded, beautiful coves. Your gaze will be drawn towards the ‘Sos Pupos’ rocks a.k.a ‘The Children’, though they look a bit more like dinosaurs in profile than small humans. An interesting side fact: Sardinia used to have its own native small elephant, standing about 1.4m high at the shoulder and weighing less than 550kg. They too had wandered over on a land link, but disappeared some twenty thousand years before the humans arrived. Anyway, then we reach the small sandy bay of “Compoltittu” (meaning small safe marina) which feels almost more tropical than Mediterranean with its shallow water and bright white sand. If it’s isolation you seek then continue on to the Torre Argentina where hidden coves await your landing…
