The next day we paddle on Phewa Lake, the second biggest lake in Nepal. Although it’s slightly cloudy we see several of the snowy white peaks in the near distance. The view from our paddle boards is simply amazing. We meet a few other boats; most of them are just rowing to the little temple on the island in the middle of the lake. People come here to pray and offer flowers and coconuts to different Hindu deities. Paddling on the lake is nice and relaxing – and for sure it made for some really interesting encounters – but the real adventure in Nepal is paddling down the rivers. And with all the melting snow from the Himalayas there are quite a few rivers to explore. However, only a few of the rivers are calm enough to paddle down with our gear (which included Franz’s cameras and laptop!). Most of the rivers are class 4, 5, or 6, only for the best of the best and certainly not for a board full of bags and gear.
