Front page news on the BBC. Only then, we realize this was a major earthquake. First I contact Dagmar, my wife, to let her know that we are ok. Apparently it was already all over the news and she and many of my friends are happy to hear from me.
The following night we are greeted with many aftershocks. Every 20 minutes we have a small shake. I sleep next to a window which starts to vibrate and rattle a little every now and then; twice we have to run out of our hostel for safety because of a more violent shock. The next morning we see the wife of the hostel owner sleeping in the car and the majority of the town camping in the streets too afraid to go back to their homes. Here in Pokhara miraculously no buildings came down and nobody got hurt.
