Most of the waves are pretty heavy and pack a bit of a punch, so it’s not really ideal entry or intermediate level conditions, but having said that, on larger swells certain other little waves appear which are a little more user friendly. Inside Boat Ramp or Cowaramup Bay for example; the latter is also a hive for over-frothed school kids and quite often out of the question for that fact. But the middle of the bay is an excellent non crowded option when it starts to appear. The best thing about down south though is the outer reefs. There’s a fair few of them and the strike rate by the man in the grey suit has been pretty good of late, so people are a little more wary of paddling large distances over open bodies of water.
