It is always the people with the least who give the most. Buoyed, we headed onto Fort George near Inverness to begin what we came for. What stood out for me most in Scotland was the landscape. Previously, the furthest North I had ventured was on school trips to Alton Towers, I could not believe a land so breath taking could be found on the British mainland. With civilisation seemingly so sparse, and the rolling hills climbing steeply up from the waters edge, every corner we turned held a new surprise. From winding canals, to wide-open Lochs that spanned as far as the eye could see, the water-ways were mysterious, untouched and unpopulated.
