The Philosophy
The Beach Culture World Tour has had success all over the world; each event is slightly different from the last, all with the intent of opening up to the native scene. The encouragement for local participation in amateur divisions and festivities is an infectious proposition. Part of the philosophy of this event incorporates local culture as much as possible. When asked about his inspiration for the event Talma talks about his early experiences on tour. “We’d find ourselves going all over the world. We would be in beautiful places but keep to ourselves.”
It’s usual for athletes to travel together and form close bonds and while this presents a comradery between athletes, it limits interaction with local people. Many of the chosen destinations are quiet fishing communities with a wealth of culture. The BCWT aims at blending athlete comradery with an immersion into the local community and there could be no better place for Talma and BCWT than his home of Barbados.
