Each night, celebrations were hosted at a new and amazing spot. Additionally there was support from the local resorts and hotels; it seems everyone has such a passion for ocean sports that they greatly understand the mission of the BCWT and appropriately support it. Ocean Spray Apartments, Silver Point Hotel, deAction Beach Accommodation and Sew Winds would all put up housing for athletes and enthusiasts alike. It’s a two way street in a lot of ways, BCWT drives local business and tourists alike to inter mingle, everyone wins.
The week’s script followed much the same theme; exploring the island for locations, relaxation and a good meal. Then we’d congregate at Brian’s deAction World, a wind sports haven along the crisp beaches of Silver Sands, to jostle and joke about who sent it the hardest. Laughs would continue into the night over shared beers with the locals at the London Bar where we’d listen to stories of a life spent fishing, surfing and raising families along these shores. The informality of the event and the lack of demand on the athletes allowed each to project what they love and needed most from the ocean.
