‘’We can’t stay here; we must find another wave to surf to continue this epic day! ‘’ says Ian, all fired up with kebab energy. ‘’There is a good reef not far from here, with the tide it would be worth a look ‘’ I reply.
Despite a little wait between sets, some good long righthanders are rattling away in this beautiful place in the middle of nowhere with only a few surfers in water. Caio is very impressed by the set up of the spot and is convinced the search should be temporarily suspended right here. ‘’I really want to test that right, it looks like a nice set up for big manoeuvres” said Caio, visibly frothing. Indeed just ten minutes later, Ciao is out there turning the spot upside down. His radical and fluid surfing draws looks of amazement from the few surfers present in the water, who’ve likely never seen a sup used this way. Wave after wave, the Rio native reveals the full devastating extent of his repertoire: aerials, fin blows, round house cut backs, speed carves…everything is thrown down and the arrival of his brother Ian in the water only increases the level as they try to outdo each other. “Kebab’s right is so fun to surf’’ said Caio, getting out of the water after three hours with long wet hair dripping down his face. The sun begins to set, it’s time to go south for a good night’s sleep because there will probably be some more action tomorrow.
