Running A SUP Camp In Croatia? Count Me In!
My intuition was correct. A few months later, I received an e-mail from Toni, the owner of Zoo Station, the SUP/wind centre in Bol I mentioned before, where all my friends hang out every day. He was proposing for me to organise a SUP training camp there.
This club is located right next to the most famous beach in Croatia, Zlatni Rat. This beach is literally a triangle of sand extending into the clearest water coloured with all possible tones of blue and green. The triangle changes shape with the storms, big tides and currents, so if you google it, you’ll see the same beach looking very different, it’s pretty interesting!
In Bol, the water is calm and glassy every morning. The old town gets the sunset light while the background is composed by white stone cliffs. This precious white stone from Brač Island is famous and rare, and it was used in building Diocletian’s Palace in Split, the White House in Washington, and of course in some of the many beautiful stone houses in the island. There are plenty of souvenirs made of this material, but according to the rumours, a lot of them are made with just a similar material, haha. However, they look awesome as well.
To make this little spot even cosier, the surfers organise BBQs pretty much every afternoon after surfing, to share some laughs and good local wine while discussing the day. The way back to the village is a beautiful walk along the promenade, sheltered by big trees and little stands with local art crafts. It was a perfect opportunity for me to get more experience in running SUP training camps, something I enjoy and would like to do more often in different places. Best of all, I would be able to explore the island and see all these little old villages from my SUP. I couldn’t wait for that!
So, “Yes Toni, of course I am going to run this camp!”
