Touring around.
SUP is not only about surf or getting fit and the adventure didn’t stop after training. Each afternoon we loaded the boards in the van and drove to a different village. This was the best part of the day. We were tired, but the beauty of these landscapes gave us the energy to paddle till sunset.
We visited the most charming villages, stopped in the markets, spoke to people, had some drinks and paddled watching the sun colouring the stone walls of the old houses. Visiting new places by SUP gives you the best perspectives. Sometimes we just sat on the boards to contemplate the scenery, chatting and enjoying the view. On days like these your smile spreads all over your face. On our last day we visited a bay where the sunset’s orange light was spilling over the oily glassy water. The sky was reflected in the sea and every stroke drew perfect lines that crinkled the surface, creating even more reflections and colours. We were mesmerised, moving slowly in silence, it was magic. Once again, only smiles and peace.
We packed the boards back in the van and went for a last walk in town. It was lively, but not crowded. Nice smells of food, cosy lights, beautiful restaurants, and charming little streets. The sound of people enjoying, laughing and walking around in a fresh summer night. I just smiled and reminded myself: “This is Croatia, and this is why I love it” Want to rent a sup board in Croatia?
