“In this episode we visit Oak Springs Rapids on the Deschutes River in Oregon near Maupin. A challenging lava rock filled series of ledges, some know Oak Springs as “Hospital Rapids” because of the consequences of a swim. On a paddle board the tongue down the main right side is a steep but straight forward drop into the rapids. Avoid the hole, turn out before being spat into the shallows, and wind your serpentine path through the ledges and spines in the run out.
Easy peasy. Join Paul Clark SUPPAUL as he runs the rapids over several times of year. One of the nice things about the lower Deschutes is that there is always good paddling.”
