The 2nd event in a series of 4 Northern-based winter SUP races will be held at Durham Amateur Rowing Club on Sunday, February 22nd at 11am. We’ll be running 14′, 12’6” and ‘whatever you have’ classes to encourage maximum participation. The race will kick off at 12pm so we ask people arrive an hour before to get registered and organise their kit.

As with these kind of events we’d appreciate any volunteers helping out with marshall duties and if anyone wants to bake or bring along any food to share/sell cheap we’d be very keen to hear from you.

Any photographers or film makers looking to shoot something a bit different we’d be extremely grateful if you could document the proceedings.

In terms of costs we’re trying to keep these to a minimum so much depends on whether people want food and drink options (as the bar will need to be opened specially and I’ll have to cover staff wages as a minimum) The club house has changing facilities and somewhere to shelter in adverse weather so it would be nice if racers/spectators at least bought something by way of saying thank you.

The rowing club can certainly organise a buffet or BBQ option for us so if people could post with a commitment to attend and advise whether they’d like food including in the price.

You’re probably looking at £10pp race fee and an additional £7.50 for a burger/veggie option with one drink.

If you don’t have a 14′ or 12’6” or an allrounder for the fun race it might be possible to hire a board from us. We may also have hire options from some other local suppliers in the event of huge interest. Please get in touch ASAP to discuss hire availability and costs.
