AZTRON NOVA 10’0 PADDLE BOARD REVIEW
From when we first unzipped the Nova’s compact rucksack to our final session on the water, it was clear this was a premium product and we expected it would reasonably have a premium price tag to match. We had to check several sources to verify that the £349 all-in price was correct – this in an absolutely hoofing deal and anyone after a compact all-rounder with double-chamber safety and rigidity, smart tool-less fins and stylish design and branding should grab a Nova as soon as they find one in stock.

Overview
Aztron’s compact Nova 10’0 feels a bit like it’s come from the future: it blends double-chamber technology with the ‘LITE’ construction so that it can be folded lengthways before rolling up into the truncated rucksack. This significantly increases your storage and transport options. The carry handle is offset to facilitate this and it actually makes portage easier since the board carries higher up under your arm.

Forward cargo bungees, neat coil leash, two smart click-to-fit 5” twin fins (the shallower draft came in handy on our low-tide West Country estuaries), pump and an adjustable three-piece nylon paddle complete the auxiliary components.

Brand Claim
The NOVA 10’0″ Compact SUP promises a thrilling journey with its brand new concept. Transforming the typical SUP to less than half of its traditional size without compromising performance. With a LITE version of Aztron’s signature Double Chamber technology, the NOVA 10’0″ is just as up-to-par with any other all-round SUP, being absolutely more rigid yet remains lightweight for easy transport.

Performance
Aztron have created one of the most appealing and eye-catching brand identities on the market with a solar-system inspired theme running through the range. The intelligent vision goes beyond the superficial with some very distinctive design features, firstly the compact design we’ve mentioned in the Overview section. Next, Aztron’s double-chamber tech is effectively one smaller inner SUP set inside a larger outer SUP. The chambers are of equal volume and together create a stiffer board thanks to the extra sidewalls in the construction, and in the extreme event that you paddle over a sunken barbed-wire fence, for example, two chambers are definitely better than one.

The Nova’s 10’0 makes it shorter than a regular 10’6 which gives it nimble handling and manoeuvrability, as well as reduced windage for an entry-level all-rounder / tourer. This makes it great fun for riders up to 85kg and people who like to throw their board around in bumps, catch a few waves and weave around the rocks. You might want to upgrade the paddle after the first few months, it’s perfectly functional but the Aztron Next carbon paddle would make a great partner to the Nova as you develop your skills and style. If you’re searching for your first SUP or want to add a second one to your family’s armada to get your pre-order in now, the Nova won’t be sat on the shelves for long.
