TWO BARE FEET PADDLE BOARD REVIEW | SPORT AIR 10’0 DOUBLE CHAMBER
VERDICT
The Two bare Feet Sport Air is a nimble, responsive comapct board that fits into, and by any inflatable board standards paddles into, waves really rather well. If you want to go bumping through gulleys in the rocks one day and scratching into beachbreak waves the next, this durable little board will do it. The double-chamber has clear advantages in producing a stiffer board (less air displacement) and a safer board (you won’t rupture two chambers, especially with the triple bottom layer) in surfy and rocky environments. A real bundle of fun.
OVERVIEW
With a familiar shortboard looking template, the entire top deck of the Sport Air is clad in a diamond-pattern eva deckpad, perhaps hinting at the footwork expected to master your chosen environment. There are numerous D-rings for attaching carbo bungees and securing items, a forward tow-point and two inflation points. Viewed side on you’ll notice the pronounced nose rocker. Underneath a tool-less plastic centre fin keeps things on track.
BRAND CLAIM
The Sport Air Double Chamber Allround / Surf 10’0” x 33” x 4.75” SUPs are an incredibly versatile design that is primarily intended for Surfing and Whitewater use, however the small, maneuverable template also caters to smaller riders like kids, teens and small adults that want a managable board for allround use. The double chamber design really lends itself to surfing and whitewater use though as these pursuits place greater strain on your board, which is counteracted by the extra stiffness and rigidity provided by the double chamber design.
PERFORMANCE
Straight away with two inflation points you’re smiling as rather than standing by uselessly, family members can get involved with inflation. At just 10’0, the Sport Air is easy to skip down to the beach with in a sea breeze but the dimensions are really kept compact for its ability in the surf. In surf up to around two feet, maybe a bit more, the Sport Air is a lot of fun. The double-chamber negates a lot of boinginess when you’re scratching for a wave and for an inflatable, gives a nice, crisp feeling to the deck with pretty good feedback as to what’s going on underneath your feet. The wide tail makes for light and quick changes of direction on the wave and gives you a stable base when piloting in flowing water. We took this tough board through some tidal streams running between rocks and it was great fun; with double-chamber security you know you’ll always be able to float home. The Sport Air is a lively, nimble board for use in moving water, and the light, compact shape makes it ideal for smaller riders too. Our test team had a real soft spot for it!
